We are a grassroots movement demanding immediate climate action from governments and corporations worldwide.
Our first world-wide event will help local organizers engage their communities and kickstart our ground support.
On the weekend after Earth Day, organizers and protesters will use the build-up to May Day to form closer ties with local unions, who will be integral in building widespread support for the strike.
On the Earth Overshoot Day of 2019, we will hold one final protest before our strike, as a final wake-up call for those that have not yet joined us.
On the anniversary of Silent Spring, the book that kick-started the environmentalist movement, we begin our General Strike to Save the Planet!
Our shared values that define Earth Strike as a movement.
These principles apply to everyone involved in our movement at any level.
We must maintain respect for others in our movement, even in disagreement.
This respect comes in two forms. Firstly, we must respect others for their efforts, and recognize that we are all committed to the success of our movement. We must argue in good faith, and avoid irrelevant personal attacks. In particular, no hate speech or derogatory slurs of any kind will be tolerated.
Secondly, we must respect others on an emotional level. We must recognize that not only is it okay in general to be stressed, angry, depressed, or overwhelmed, but it is the appropriate response to the scale and weight of the work we're doing and the problems we're up against. We must respect emotional honesty and openness, and avoid tone policing.
Earth Strike is not a corporate enterprise, and we don’t pretend to be one. In accordance with our principle of horizontalism, we grant full autonomy to our various branches on the national, regional, and municipal level, while maintaining small but robust international teams to provide resources and assistance as necessary for these chapters as they get off the ground.
Among these international teams are:
Teams in the Content Department are responsible for creating and maintaining necessary resources and materials for both public consumption and use by local chapters. These can be found on our Materials page.

The brains behind our operation! The Research Team is responsible for informing our international strategy with insights about both climate change and the surrounding politics.
Working in close consultation with the Writing Team, the Research Team provides them with necessary and useful information, and verifies their work for accuracy.
